Volunteer installing a trail blaze.

Are you interested in becoming a trail maintainer? Take this workshop to learn how to care for your trail!

Our trail maintainers visit their trails 3 to 4 times each year to ensure that our trails are clearly marked and free of obstacles to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for trail users. Maintainers use small hand tools to clip and cut brush out of the trail, remove debris from drainage structures, and paint or hang trail markers, which are also known as blazes.

This course will help you to gain or brush up on the skills necessary to become a volunteer Trail Conference Trail Maintainer. Skills include how to properly clear the trail corridor, clean drainage structures, paint or hang trail blazes, and report trail conditions.

Please come prepared! Wear sturdy shoes/hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing and bring plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch.
