Moving Big Stones Workshop

Build your next adventure learning advanced stone-moving techniques with the Trail Conference!

Ever seen a staircase or other stone structure on a trail and wonder how those rocks get from Point A to Point B in the middle of the forest? Come find out!

Trail Conference staff will teach you the tools and techniques trail crews use to move mountains – from picks and pry bars all the way to wire rope winches.

You’ll learn about rock selection for projects, quarrying tips, and safe and effective transport of rocks that can weigh as much as 1000lbs! Come prepared to work hard, but more importantly, smart.

Long pants, and close-toed sturdy hiking shoes or boots are required.  But we'll supply all the tools, equipment and safety gear you'll need to help out that day.

We will be meeting at the Manaticut Point Trailhead in Norvin Green State Forest on Sunday, October 28th - at 10:00am.

Please register.  Space is limited.
