Ringwood, NJ, issues winter walking, biking, hiking challenge

Body

Geared toward people of all ages, the Ringwood Outdoors Champion program involves walking, biking, or hiking at your own pace and within your ability level, between mid-November and the end of March.

The programs main mission is "to encourage residents to enjoy, preserve and protect the natural beauty of Ringwood," says Mike McCormick of the Ringwood Environmental Commission. "This program is our way of giving everyone a nudge to get outside, be active, appreciate nature, save money (these trails are free), stay local, and spend time with family or friends."

Pick one of three levels of challenges then finish all three hikes or walks within that challenge. For your efforts, you get a Ringwood Outdoors Champion certificate and each household will be entered in a drawing to win prizes.

Made possible by Ringwood Environmental Commission funds and a donation from Ramsey Outdoors, prizes include a North Jersey trail map set, a hiking backpack, and a handheld GPS.
