Why Advocacy

We cannot take trails for granted. When they are threatened with detrimental impacts, action is necessary through raising awareness, attending local municipal meetings, and traveling to Albany, Trenton, and Washington, D.C. to speak to elected and government officials. And so we advocate for the preservation of trails the Trail Conference has built and maintains, and the lands upon which trails are situated.

The Advocacy Committee is made up of volunteers and staff members, who monitor government and community initiatives, draft position statements, conduct advocacy campaigns, and develop the Trail Conference’s annual advocacy agenda for Board approval.
