Paralleling the 40-mile stretch of the Delaware River from Port Jervis to the Delaware Water Gap is the long, wooded ridge of the Kittatinnies - the Native American name for "Endless Mountain."  With elevations of 1,400 to 1,800 feet, the Kittatinnies offer panoramic views from High Point, Sunrise Mountain, and many other overlooks. Approximately 43 miles of the New Jersey section of the AppalachianTrail run along the ridge.

The region also includes the Great Valley, lowland areas that feature important wetlands, bird and wildlife conservation areas, and paddling opportunities along with excellent walking and hiking trails.
